Create a Custom Field in Salesforce

Sona’s integration with Salesforce automatically imports your CRM Contact records into the platform so that it can be used for visitor identification and revenue attribution.

Once the Salesforce integration connector is created, you can configure it to automatically create new Contact and Account records in Salesforce, as well as update existing records with enriched data from Sona.

Aside from updating Salesforce's default fields, Sona can enrich Salesforce objects with additional attributes.

If you want to sync new attributes from Sona into Salesforce's records, you'll need to create new custom fields in Salesforce first. Once this is done, you can configure the data export in the Salesforce connector.

How to Create a New Custom Field in Salesforce

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner, then click Setup.

  2. In the Setup page, click Object Manager on the upper left or via the sidebar menu.

  3. Click the object that you want to update with new custom fields.

  4. Click Fields & Relationships from the sidebar menu.

  5. Click to New to create a new field in the selected object.

  6. Select a Data Type from the list. Use the suggested field types listed in the table in the next section to ensure proper data mapping when data is synced to Salesforce.

  7. Click Next.

  8. Enter a Field Label, then click Next.

  9. Select which users are allowed to edit the field, then click Next.

  10. Select the relevant Dynamic Forms for the new field, then click Next.

  11. Select the relevant Page Layouts for the new field, then click Next.

  12. Click Save.
