Destination Setup: Salesforce

Updated over a week ago

This guide walks you through connecting your Sona Audiences to Salesforce for automated syncs. By completing this setup, your Salesforce records will stay updated in real time with Sona segmentation, helping your sales team prioritize high-fit, high-intent contacts and accounts.

Prerequisites

  • A Salesforce account must be connected to Sona

  • Access to Sona Audiences data

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Connect Salesforce to Sona

  1. Go to Connectors in the Sona sidebar

  2. Locate or add the Salesforce Connector

  3. Authenticate and ensure the status reads Active

Step 2: Create a New Destination

  1. Navigate to the Destinations section

  2. Click + Add Destination

  3. Select Salesforce from the list

Step 3: Salesforce-Specific Configuration

  • Salesforce Entity: Choose the target entity you want to sync data to—e.g., Contacts, Leads, or Accounts

  • Sync Method:

    • Use Add/Update to create new Salesforce records and update existing ones

    • Use Update Only to modify only existing records

    • Use One-Time Sync for a single export of data

  • Field Mapping: Map your Sona fields to the appropriate Salesforce fields. Use the + Add button to map additional fields.

  • Enable real-time processing for this destination (located under Field Mapping): Check this box if you want immediate data updates

    • When enabled, real-time processing will override the scheduled sync frequency

    • Ideal for time-sensitive workflows and immediate lead follow-up

For general destination configuration steps—such as selecting a Sona audience, setting sync frequency, record matching, field mapping, sync settings, and saving—follow the instructions in the Destination Setup guide.

Best Practices (optional)

  • Use email, phone number, or customer ID as your matching key for best results

  • Create distinct destinations for different data types or business units

  • Use descriptive names like "Enterprise Leads - Salesforce"

  • Schedule syncs more frequently for real-time sales enablement (e.g., hourly)

  • Start with minimal field mapping and expand as needed to avoid sync errors

  • Regularly review sync logs to ensure healthy, up-to-date data flows
