Destination Setup: Clay

This guide walks you through connecting your Sona Audiences to Clay for automated syncs. By completing this setup, your Clay database will stay updated in real time with high-intent leads from Sona, enabling more personalized sales and marketing outreach.

Prerequisites

  • A Clay account must be connected to Sona

  • Access to Sona Audiences data

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Connect Clay to Sona

  1. Go to Connectors in the Sona sidebar

  2. Locate or add the Clay Connector

  3. Authenticate and ensure the status reads Active

Step 2: Create a New Destination

  1. Navigate to the Destinations section

  2. Click + Add Destination

  3. Select Clay from the list

Step 3: Clay-Specific Configuration

  • Destination Name: Enter a name like "High-Value Prospects – Clay"

  • Source: Select the Sona audience you want to sync

  • Target: Choose your Clay integration from the dropdown

  • Enable real-time processing for this destination: Check this box if you want immediate data updates

    • When enabled, real-time processing will override the scheduled sync frequency

    • Ideal for time-sensitive workflows and immediate lead follow-up

Best Practices (optional)

  • Use descriptive destination names like "High Intent – Clay Pipeline Feed"

  • Segment audiences by funnel stage to improve downstream workflows

  • Sync more frequently for time-sensitive plays (e.g., outbound triggers)

  • Ensure exported data includes unique identifiers for matching in Clay

  • Regularly review sync logs to confirm successful updates

  • Coordinate with your sales ops team to align Clay structure with incoming Sona data
