Updated over a week ago

This guide walks you through connecting your Sona Audiences to Facebook Custom Audiences for automated syncs. By completing this setup, your Facebook campaigns will stay updated in real time based on your Sona segmentation, enabling more targeted, high-performance outreach.

Prerequisites

  • A Facebook account must be connected to Sona

  • Access to Sona Audiences data

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Connect Facebook to Sona

  1. Go to Connectors in the Sona sidebar

  2. Locate or add the Facebook Connector

  3. Authenticate and ensure the status reads Active

Step 2: Create a New Destination

  1. Navigate to the Destinations section

  2. Click + Add Destination

  3. Select Facebook Custom Audience from the list

Step 3: Facebook-Specific Configuration

  • Target Selection: Choose your Facebook Custom Audience from the dropdown

  • Record Matching Best Practice: Use email or phone for best match rates

  • Facebook Notes: Facebook requires matched data to meet its Custom Audience policies—ensure user consent and data privacy compliance.

  • Enable real-time processing for this destination (located under Record Matching): Check this box if you want immediate data updates

    • When enabled, real-time processing will override the scheduled sync frequency

    • Ideal for time-sensitive workflows and immediate lead follow-up

For general destination configuration steps—such as selecting an audience, setting sync frequency, record matching, field mapping, and saving—follow the instructions in the Destination Setup guide.

Best Practices

  • Update sync frequency based on your campaign needs (shorter intervals for time-sensitive campaigns)

  • Map essential identifiers like email addresses or phone numbers for better match rates

  • Use descriptive naming conventions for destinations to easily identify their purpose

  • Consider creating separate destinations for adding and removing audience members to maintain better control
