Overview
The Watch Entities screen is where you build and expand the shortlist of brands you follow in AI Visibility. It has two jobs. It shows you Suggested Entities, the brands Sona has noticed turning up next to yours in AI answers, and it lets you create an entity by hand when a brand you care about has not been detected.
Anything you track or add here appears in the Watched Entities view on the Rankings tab, so this screen is the front door to a focused competitor list rather than the full leaderboard.
Suggested Entities
The main part of the screen is a grid of suggestion cards, under the heading Suggested Entities. These are entities that appeared alongside your brand in AI responses at least twice, which usually means AI models treat them as comparable to you. Each card shows:
The entity's logo and name, as detected in AI answers.
The source URL the entity was found at.
A Track button.
Note: the same brand can appear on several cards with different source URLs, because each URL is detected separately. That is normal. Track whichever entries reflect the brand you want to follow.
Tracking an entity
Click Track on a card to start following that entity. It is added to your watched list straight away, and it will show up in the Watched Entities view on the Rankings tab.
Tracking is a display preference. It does not change what Sona monitors or how Visibility, Position, SOV, and Sentiment are calculated, it only decides which brands appear in your filtered view. If you change your mind, open the Rankings tab and click Unwatch on that brand's row.
If a suggestion is not relevant to you, dismiss it and it will stop appearing in the list.
Finding a specific suggestion
The suggestion list can be long. Use the Search by name or domain box at the top of the screen to jump straight to the brand you have in mind instead of scrolling, searching either by the entity name or by its domain.
Adding an entity manually
If a brand you care about is not in the suggestions, create it yourself. Click Add Entity at the top right to open the Add Entities panel.
Logo (optional): drag and drop an image file, click to upload one, or paste the URL of a logo image.
Entity Name (required): the brand name as you want it to appear in the rankings.
Entity URL (required): the brand's main website.
Also known as (optional): alternate names for the same brand. Type a name and click Add Alias, and repeat for as many as you need. Tick Advanced: Pattern Matching if you want to match variations of a name rather than exact spellings.
Domains (optional): any additional domains that belong to the brand. Type a domain and click Add Domain.
Click Save to create the entity, Cancel to close without saving, or Clear All to empty the form and start again.
Tip: aliases and extra domains are worth filling in when a brand is referred to several ways in AI answers, for example a product name alongside a company name. Without them, the same brand can be counted as two separate entities.
FAQs
Where do suggested entities come from?
Where do suggested entities come from?
They are entities that appeared alongside your brand in AI responses at least twice. Each suggestion is tied to the source URL it was found at, so a brand detected at several URLs will appear on several cards. Sona builds this list from your tracked prompts, so it changes as your prompts and the answers to them change.
Does tracking an entity change my data?
Does tracking an entity change my data?
No. Tracking decides which brands appear in the Watched Entities view on the Rankings tab and nothing more. Visibility, Position, SOV, and Sentiment are calculated across all detected entities either way, and a brand you stop watching keeps its history.
Why does the same brand appear on more than one card?
Why does the same brand appear on more than one card?
Each suggestion is tied to the source URL where the entity was detected, so a brand cited at four different URLs produces four cards. If those are genuinely the same brand and you want their mentions counted together, add the alternate names under Also known as and the extra domains under Domains when you create or edit the entity.
How do I stop following an entity?
How do I stop following an entity?
Go to the Rankings tab and click Unwatch in the Actions column on that brand's row. The brand stays in the All Entities list with its history intact, it just drops out of your Watched Entities view.
A competitor I care about is not in the suggestions. What now?
A competitor I care about is not in the suggestions. What now?
Suggestions only include entities that appeared next to your brand in AI answers at least twice, so a competitor that AI models rarely mention alongside you will not show up. Use Add Entity to create it by hand. It is also worth reviewing your prompts, since a competitor missing from the suggestions can be a sign that your prompts do not cover the questions where they get mentioned.
