Workspace Settings: Sales Activity

Updated this week

This guide will help you configure the Sales Activity section to accurately track interactions that drive pipeline and revenue. You’ll learn how to name activities, link them to reports, and set UTM parameters and mappings for precise attribution.

With this guide, you’ll be able to confidently organize your sales data and link it to user journeys for actionable insights.

When to Use This / Prerequisites

Use this when:

  • You want to monitor sales team engagement or track key touchpoints in the buyer journey.

  • You’re creating reports based on specific sales actions or campaigns.

Prerequisites:

  • Sales data reports must be available in the system.

  • You must know which UTM tags or profile attributes your team is using for tracking.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1. Name the Sales Activity

  • In the Activity Name field, enter a clear and descriptive name for the event (e.g., Initial Contact, Follow-Up Email).

  • Keep names standardized across your team for consistency in reporting.

Step 2. Link to a Report

  • Go to the Report section:

    1. Use the Select Report Type dropdown to choose the appropriate type (e.g., Engagement, Conversion).

    2. Then, use the Select Report dropdown to specify the exact report that will track this activity.

Step 3. Set UTM Source Parameters

  • Under UTM Source:

    1. Prefix: Enter a recognizable prefix like utm_campaign.

    2. Type: Choose the UTM type (e.g., Source, Medium).

    3. Subtype: Add further context by selecting a subtype like Email, Paid Ad, or Social.

Step 4. Choose a Timezone

  • In the Timezone dropdown, select the time zone that matches your sales operation or reporting region.

  • This ensures timestamps align with your CRM or reporting tools.

Step 5. Map Data to User Profiles

  • Under Mapping:

    1. In Profile Attribute, enter a user identifier (e.g., Email, User ID).

    2. In Column, enter the column name from your report or data source that matches the selected attribute.

  • This ensures your activity data is correctly linked to individual user records.

Key Concepts / Best Practices

  • Consistency is key: Use standardized naming and mapping conventions across all activities.

  • UTM precision matters: Align UTM types and subtypes with your broader campaign strategy to ensure clean attribution.

  • Timezone alignment: Avoid data mismatches by verifying your timezone matches with external platforms (e.g., CRM, marketing tools).
