Updated this week

Milestones help you pinpoint and monitor critical events in your users' journey or project timeline. This guide will show you how to name, configure, and report on each milestone for deeper behavioral insights and dashboard tracking.

With this guide, you’ll be ready to confidently surface key progress signals and build powerful reports.

When to Use This / Prerequisites

Use this when:

  • You want to track completion points like signups, purchases, or onboarding steps.

  • You’re building reports or dashboards that depend on behavioral triggers.

Prerequisites:

  • Tracking must be set up via the Sona Pixel or existing reports.

  • Access to dashboard and report configuration tools.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1. Name Your Milestone

  • In the Milestone Name field, enter a name that clearly reflects the event or moment you want to track (e.g., Account Created, First Purchase).

  • Toggle Custom Dashboard Metric ON if you want this milestone to appear as a metric in your custom dashboard and reports.

Step 2. Choose Your Data Source

  • Captured by Sona Pixel: Select this option if the event is tracked through your Sona Pixel implementation.

  • Report: Choose this if the data comes from an existing report that already captures this behavior.

Step 3. Configure the Settings

  • Field: Choose the data field you want to filter by (e.g., Event Type, Milestone Type).

  • Filter: Select a filter operator such as equals , contains, etc.

  • Value: Enter the value that matches your filter criteria (e.g., Signup Complete, Profile Updated).

Key Concepts / Best Practices

  • Milestones should represent meaningful progress in the customer or user lifecycle.

  • Use clear, action-oriented names so teams can quickly understand the purpose of each milestone.
